Fall is fast approaching and that means a home decor style upgrade may be in order. Are you looking for some great home decor styling tips for fall? Look no further, as we will discuss 7 fantastic ways to update your home decor for the new season. Here’s to bringing in the deck chairs and putting out the pumpkins!
1. Invest in Silk Flowers
Flowers in a vase are a great signifier of the season, but sometimes it seems like they wilt before you can truly enjoy them. This autumn, head to a craft or dollar store and look for some fall-themed florals to brighten up your home. Some different flowers and greenery to consider are sun flowers, red or orange pansies or chrysanthemums, wheat, fall-coloured sticks and leaves, green grass, and marigolds!
2. Festive Pillows and Throws
Throw pillows and blankets are a fun and relatively affordable way to signify seasonal changes! For fall, consider updating your colour scheme to match the changing leaves! Burgundy and other reds, oranges and golds are all beautiful colours indicative of fall. Sometimes you can even find beautiful pillows that have fall themes directly on them, such as leaves, pumpkins, cornucopias, and more!
3. Gourds of Plenty
Nothing says fall quite like a gourd. Usually we think of pumpkins, but there are other beautiful gourds that can be arranged in baskets for a beautiful and cost-effective centrepiece. Acorn Squash, Butternut Squash, Delicata Squash, Dumpling Squash, and a pumpkin or two can be mixed together for a lovely basket! So long as you keep them dry and cool, they will stay good for several weeks. And when it’s time to replace them, they make a lovely fall soup!
4. Themed Napkins and Tablecloths
There is no shortage of fall-themed paper napkins, so changing over your napkins to feature fall colours, leaves, pumpkins, etc. is a great way to add a little autumn to your decor. If you use tablecloths, getting a fall themed one is a fun way to make a larger autumn statement. If you’re feeling crafty, you can even head to the fabric store and get some fall themed fabric to make your own!
5. Wreaths
Who says wreaths are only for Christmas? Autumnal wreaths are beautiful and add festivity and fun to the outside of your home. A wreath made of pine cones, leaves, sticks, or a combination is a lovely addition to your outdoor decor!
6. Get a Little Fruity
There are plenty of other fruits and vegetables that signify fall other than pumpkins and squash. Whether you’re choosing real or artificial, bowls or baskets of fall fruits and vegetables are a fun and easy way to make your autumn decor bountiful. Apples and Pears are beautiful and fun, or you can lean further into a harvest theme and choose to display ears of corn! Although they aren’t technically fruits, bowls of acorns are a lovely addition to any side table!
7. Leaf you best Life
The season of fall is best described by the leaves changing colour and falling (it’s where the name comes from, right?). So, leaf decor is a great way to change up your decor for an autumnal theme. Vases full of leaves, pressed leaves on tables, decorative bowls that look like they’re made of leaves, garlands of leaves, dishware and serving ware with leaves, and anything else you can think of is a simple way to give your home decor a fall boost!
The changing of the seasons is such a fun and exciting time! Changing up your decor to fit the seasons can liven up your home and make everything feel new again!
